About Us

Oh, hey! I’m Anna.

I'm an artist, a maker, a mom, a creative thinker and a juggler of duties. I have always loved the beauty and variety of handmade wares. My love of the making process and my interest in curating the work of other artists is the foundation of Carter & Rose.

Each wall planter or ceramic snake from our signature line is an expression of my creative process and my commitment to in-house, local, and handmade. I love that I get to make and showcase handmade wares as my job and I’m thrilled that Carter & Rose has become a space where our customers can come in & shop a variety of quality handmade wares. Thanks so much for joining us!

The Carter & Rose Story

When I began Carter & Rose, I didn’t know which specific products I’d sell or what the shop would look like. But I knew that I was passionate about handmade products and supporting independent artisans and makers. It’s my guiding path, and it drives everything I do.

One day, I was in the studio working with clay, and started thinking about leftover scraps. I shaped a flat scrap of clay into an organic cone shape and voila… the wall planter was born.

The shop opened in June, 2015. The wall planters were picked up by West Elm, Portland and the rest, as they say, is history.

Fast forward through whirlwinds of activity and a steep learning curve about the corporate world of wholesale and here we are, today. I always knew that I wanted Carter & Rose to remain handmade. And to this day, each piece for our collections are created by hand in our Portland studio.

I am proud that our shop is an oasis of beautiful things; it was built and continues to be shaped by the hands of artists. We invite you to find beauty at Carter & Rose.

Carter & Rose has been featured in the West Elm blog, the Seattle Times, Architectural Digest, Design Sponge, and in the Handmade Seller Magazine.
